So I was just thinking today (thanks to a recent conversation with my sister) of all the changes we go through as we grow up. From different hair styles, different taste in music, wardrobe changes, etc. But how many of us have changed names. Or at least varied a little from our original name. There are names people use that I haven't heard in years. Names that only my family (or just my mom) still uses. Names relatives still use. Names old close friends have come up with. Lastly names I have decided to go with just to be a little different. Here is a list of what I've had through my life and the evolution of it:
Rebecca (born given name)
Beck
Becky
Beck-a-boo
B
Becie (thought I'd change the spelling in HS. Can you tell English wasn't my best supject)
Bec7ie (the 7 is silent)
Becca
Reba
and back to good old Rebecca
So if someone calls, a letter is addressed to me, leaves a comment on the world wide web about me I will know exactly what era this person is from.
Now it's your turn to share. If not, I'll have to be forced to make up some on my own for you. My family has a real talent for coming up with names for people. Having said that, here's a shout out to Kevin the 7-11 slurpee lip Baulm and Shane the shoe shining Sherman.

There is not a whole lot anyone can do with my name. My mom called me Cori-Lori for awhile when I was little. Then there was that boy in 4th grade that had a whole song of words that didn't really rhyme, he called me Corny Cori. I'm still wounded by it...maybe I should seek therapy! I just am not seeing the whole Becky/Becie thing. I liked to mix it up a little with the spelling of names way back then too, never my own though, My sp is as about as feminine as you can get with my name.
Rebecca! I love your blog. :-) I love your name post too. Any names that settled with me as a child are long forgotten... too much trauma I suppose. Although at one point I do remember asking to be called Toni. Why? I have no idea. Maybe I'll join Cori and we can do group therapy.
um...i never really had any nicknames. I did got through a period in 6th grade where I changed the spelling of my name to Jana. That's how everyone was spelling it anyways.
